The Merida Scultura Rim 100 is Merida's entry-level rim-brake road bike, with a 6066 triple-butted aluminium frame, a full carbon tapered fork and Shimano Claris 8-speed shifting. Merida says its geometry is less aggressive and more upright than the Scultura CF5 and CF3 carbon models, making it a good start for riders new to road cycling.

At a glance

Merida Scultura Rim 100 Road Bike Characteristics

Entry-level road bike with classic rim brakes. Beautifully crafted triple butted aluminium frame with balanced road bike geometry for hours of road bike fun. Trusted Shimano/FSA components keep you spinning nice and easy.

Feature

Merida entry-level rim brake road bike and the perfect start if you want to get the miles in on tarmac. Based on the proven and less aggressive geometry than the new top models, the 100 offers a lightweight 6066 triple butted aluminium frame with internal cable routing and a lightweight full carbon fork. The carbon fork has a positive impact on the overall weight and provides precise steering and improved vibration absorption over an aluminium fork.

Rather than featuring the more aggressive and race-proven geometry of the CF5 and CF3 models, the CF2 and aluminium SCULTURA models retain their slightly more relaxed geometry. Within this family, we offer our bikes with powerful and easy to modulate disc brakes that deliver constant braking power even in wetter conditions or the more price aggressive rim brake alternative. Due to the less aggressive geometry, our CF2 and aluminium models are ideal for riders who are getting into the sport as well as for those who prefer a slightly more upright position when hitting the lanes.

Who is it for?

First-time road bike buyers who want a more upright position for cycle tracks, flat roads and weekend rides. If you often ride in the rain or want more gears, compare the aluminium disc models in the same family: the Merida Scultura 300 Disc Road Bike (Shimano Tiagra 10-speed) and the Merida Scultura 400 Disc Road Bike (Shimano 105 11-speed).

FAQ

What size Merida Scultura Rim 100 should I choose?

Start with Merida's height ranges above; for example, a 170 cm rider could look at S or S/M. Then compare reach and stack in the geometry table with a bike that fits you. If you are between sizes, contact us before ordering.

How much does the Merida Scultura Rim 100 weigh?

Merida's spec page does not list a complete-bike weight; it only gives a 120 kg maximum weight (including rider). Weight varies by size; contact us before ordering if you need a reference.

Does the Scultura Rim 100 have rim brakes or disc brakes?

Rim brakes. It uses Lee Chi Road dual-pivot calipers with Shimano Claris levers and quick-release wheels (100x9 mm front, 135x9 mm rear frame spacing). For disc brakes, compare the Scultura 300 or 400 Disc.

What is the maximum tyre size for the Scultura Rim 100?

700x25C. Merida lists 700x25C as the maximum for both frame and fork, and the bike comes with Maxxis Pursuer 700x25C folding tyres; the rims are not tubeless ready.

Scultura Rim 100 vs Scultura 300 and 400 Disc: what is the difference?

All three use a 6066 triple-butted aluminium frame and a full carbon tapered fork. The Rim 100 has Shimano Claris 8-speed and rim brakes; the Scultura 300 Disc has Shimano Tiagra 10-speed and hydraulic discs; the Scultura 400 Disc has Shimano 105 11-speed and hydraulic discs.

Which model year is this, and how does it differ from the newer Scultura Rim 100?

This page is the 2021 model with Shimano Claris 8-speed. The Scultura Rim 100 now on Merida's website uses Shimano CUES 2x9-speed, comes in 3XS to XL and in different colours; it is a different model year.

Is the Scultura Rim 100 good for beginners?

Yes. Merida says the aluminium and CF2 Scultura models keep a more relaxed geometry, ideal for riders getting into the sport or who prefer a more upright position.

Where is Merida from?

Merida is a Taiwanese brand; Ike Tseng founded Merida Industries in Taiwan in 1972.

Where can I buy the Merida Scultura Rim 100 in Hong Kong?

Jollymap sells it online and in store. To confirm size or colour before ordering, chat with us or message our Facebook page.
