The Suncord tri-spoke carbon wheelset is a 16-inch (349) carbon wheelset built specifically for the Funxtron F16 trifold bike: about 790 g a pair, with hubs that match the F16's 74 mm front and 135 mm rear 12 mm thru-axle disc-brake frame, so it fits straight on with no adapters. One-piece carbon tri-spoke construction and a 36T planetary ratchet hub give you stiffness, low weight and freedom from spoke truing in one upgrade.

What problem does this wheelset solve?
The Funxtron F16 uses a 74 mm front and 135 mm rear 12 mm thru-axle disc frame. That is different from the Java Neo (142 mm rear) and the Dahon K3 Plus, so most 349 carbon wheelsets on the market simply do not fit. This Suncord wheelset is made to the F16's hub spacing and axle standard, so it arrives in the right size with no adapters and no guesswork about whether it will clear the frame.
The other common headache is that spoked wheels go out of true over time and need periodic adjustment. A one-piece carbon tri-spoke wheel has no spokes, so there is nothing to true. Before each ride you only need to check tyre pressure.
Who is it for?
This wheelset is for Funxtron F16 owners only. If you ride a Java Neo, choose the FEELNEO Tri-Spoke Carbon Ceramic Bearing Wheelset for Java Neo or the ODIN Tri-Spoke Carbon Wheelset for Java Neo; Dahon K3 Plus owners should pick the ODIN Tri-Spoke Carbon Wheelset for Dahon K3 Plus. The rider weight limit is 110 kg including gear, so it is not recommended if you are close to or above that figure.
One-piece carbon tri-spoke: stiff and maintenance-free
The rim and three spoke arms are moulded as a single piece, so the wheel flexes less under load than a spoked wheel and more of your pedalling effort reaches the road, which you feel when accelerating from lights and on climbs. No spokes also means no loose spokes and no truing, so the long-term upkeep is far lower than a conventional wheel.
36T planetary ratchet hub: quick engagement
The rear hub uses a 36T planetary ratchet with a small engagement angle, so there is almost no dead stroke when you resume pedalling after coasting, which suits the stop-start rhythm of city riding on a folding bike. The front hub runs on 2 bearings, the rear hub on 2 bearings, with another 2 in the freehub body.
About 790 g a pair, 797 g on the Jollymap scale
Suncord quotes 790 g ±20 g a pair for the UD carbon version. We put a black/silver pair on our scale and read 797 g, in line with the official figure. On a bike that weighs 9.7 kg complete, the wheels are one of the easiest places to save weight.

32 mm deep, 20 mm internal width, tubeless compatible
The rim is 32 mm deep, 27.5 mm wide externally and 20 mm wide internally, wider than a typical 349 alloy rim, so a 1.35-inch tyre takes a rounder profile with better support in corners. The rim is tubeless compatible with a recommended maximum pressure of 100 psi. The F16's original CST 349 x 1.35-inch tyres can be reused.
Colour options
Jollymap stocks four finishes: UD carbon, UD carbon with white dots, black rim with silver spokes, and black rim with orange spokes. The spokes carry FUNXTRON lettering to match the F16 frame. Suncord also offers special finishes such as the feather pattern to order; contact us for lead time and pricing. In the picture below, the two wheels on the left are UD carbon with white dots and the two on the right are black/silver with the feather pattern (to order).

Funxtron F16 version vs Java Neo version
Both Suncord 349 tri-spoke wheelsets share the same rim and spoke structure. The differences are in hub spacing and bearings, and the two are not interchangeable.

Jollymap's advice
This wheelset matches the Funxtron F16 frame standard only. If you are not sure your bike is an F16, or the frame has been modified, please chat with us or message our Facebook page with photos of the rear triangle and fork before ordering, and we will confirm fitment before shipping. If you want the SRAM XDR freehub, titanium freehub or 60T titanium ratchet upgrade, contact us first for a quote and lead time. After swapping wheels the disc calipers may need a small alignment; ask us about fitting service at the same time if you need it.

FAQ
Will this wheelset fit a Java Neo, Dahon K3 Plus or another 16-inch 349 folding bike?
No. This is the Funxtron F16 version with a 135 mm / 12 mm thru-axle rear hub. Java Neo owners should choose the FEELNEO Java Neo version or the ODIN Java Neo version, and Dahon K3 Plus owners the ODIN Dahon K3 Plus version. For any other bike, contact us first to check hub spacing and axle type.
What are the benefits of a carbon tri-spoke wheelset over spoked wheels? Is it faster?
The main benefits are stiffness, weight and low maintenance rather than outright speed. The one-piece tri-spoke structure flexes less under load, so pedalling feels more direct; at about 790 g a pair it is lighter than most 349 alloy spoked wheelsets; and with no spokes there is no truing. At typical folding-bike speeds the aerodynamic gain of a tri-spoke wheel is small, so do not expect a big jump in average speed from the wheels alone.
How much does the wheelset actually weigh?
About 790 g ±20 g a pair for the UD carbon version according to Suncord. Jollymap weighed a black/silver pair at 797 g, in line with the official figure. The weight excludes tyres, rotors, cassette and thru-axles.
How long do carbon wheels last, and what are the drawbacks?
In normal use a carbon rim does not slowly deform through metal fatigue the way an alloy rim can, and Suncord backs the rim with a 2-year warranty excluding user damage. The drawback is that carbon does not tolerate sharp impacts well: after hitting a pothole, a kerb or a crash, inspect the rim for cracks or delamination and stop riding it if in doubt. The rider limit is 110 kg; exceeding it shortens the wheel's life.
How should I clean and look after carbon wheels?
Wash with water, a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Avoid pointing a pressure washer at the hubs so water does not get into the bearings. Hong Kong's humid weather makes it worth wiping the wheels dry after a ride to extend bearing life. Carbon tri-spoke wheels need no periodic truing; just check tyre pressure and that the rotor bolts are tight.
Can I run tubeless tyres, and what pressure should I use?
Yes. The rim is tubeless compatible when used with tubeless tyres and sealant, and it also works with inner tubes. The recommended maximum is 100 psi. The F16's original CST 349 x 1.35-inch tyres are rated at 85 psi, so inflate to the pressure printed on your tyre.
How many speeds does the freehub take, and can I get SRAM XDR or a titanium freehub?
The standard freehub is Shimano HG and accepts Shimano and SRAM 9, 10, 11 and 12-speed cassettes, so the F16's original 10-speed cassette fits directly. SRAM XDR freehub, titanium freehub and 60T titanium ratchet are optional upgrades to order; contact us before purchase for pricing and lead time.
Are there colours other than UD carbon, UD carbon with white dots, black/silver and black/orange?
Yes. Jollymap carries those four finishes as standard, and Suncord offers special finishes such as the feather pattern to order with a lead time. Contact us for details.
Does anything need adjusting after fitting the wheels? Can I reuse my rotors?
Only a quick check. The hubs use a Center Lock rotor mount, so the F16's original Center Lock rotors transfer straight across; if your rotors are 6-bolt you will need Center Lock rotors or an adapter. After moving the rotors and cassette across, the disc calipers may need a small realignment so the rotors do not rub; the gears normally need no adjustment. If you would like us to fit the wheels, chat with us to ask about fitting service.
