BB86 is a press-fit bottom bracket standard originally defined by Shimano, using a 41mm bore diameter and 86mm shell width. It is one of the most widely adopted press-fit BB specifications in modern cycling, found across high-end carbon road frames from major manufacturers including Giant, Trek, Specialized, Cervélo, BMC, Scott, Pinarello, Colnago, Canyon, Merida, and many more. The press-fit design allows the BB shell to be manufactured as a continuous bore without internal threading, enabling frame designers to create wider BB shells for increased stiffness while permitting the bottom bracket cups to sit flush against the shell's inner wall for maximum power transfer efficiency. As the most popular 41mm standard for road applications, BB86 offers broad compatibility — simply confirm your frame is marked BB86 or PF86 to ensure this product is the right fit.

The bearing core uses grade-3 Silicon Nitride (Si₃N₄) ceramic balls paired with hardened stainless-steel races. The ceramic balls offer an exceptionally smooth surface and far greater hardness than steel, resulting in ultra-low friction and outstanding longevity. Structurally, the cups feature optimised material and geometry for maximum strength at reduced weight, while a simplified spacer tube design uses fewer parts for quicker, more intuitive installation. BB86 is one of the most widely adopted press-fit standards in modern carbon road frames, found across brands such as Giant, Trek, Specialized, Cervélo, BMC, Scott, Pinarello, Colnago, Canyon, Merida, BH, Wilier, and De Rosa.

⚠️ Before installation, confirm your frame's BB shell is BB86 (41mm bore × 86mm width) — not BB92 (41mm × 92mm, used for MTB/Gravel) or BB30/PF30 (46mm bore). If your frame spec sheet states "BB86", "PF86", or "Press Fit 41×86", it is compatible with this product.

Installation Notes
