BB ALPHA is CeramicSpeed's flagship bottom bracket line, engineered to outlast your frame. This model fits BSA English threaded frames paired with 30mm axle road cranksets, and is designed for road, triathlon, and track disciplines.

BSA (British Standard Adapter), also known as English Threaded, is the longest-standing and most widely adopted threaded bottom bracket standard in cycling. It uses a 68mm shell width with 1.370" × 24 TPI external threading. The key advantages of a threaded design include repeatable installation and removal without frame damage, no need for specialist press-fit tooling, and a lower maintenance threshold. The mechanical engagement of threads provides secure retention that is inherently resistant to the creaking issues sometimes associated with press-fit systems. The majority of traditional road frames and many modern high-end framesets continue to use BSA, making it the most broadly compatible BB standard on the market.

The bearing core uses grade-3 Silicon Nitride (Si₃N₄) ceramic balls paired with hardened stainless-steel races. The ceramic balls offer an exceptionally smooth surface and far greater hardness than steel, resulting in ultra-low friction and outstanding longevity. The hardened stainless-steel races are inherently corrosion resistant — ideal for riding in Hong Kong's hot and humid conditions where sweat and rain are constant challenges.

Protection is where BB ALPHA truly excels. Custom-engineered seals and precision dust covers were refined through 28 design iterations for optimal fitment, delivering 500% better moisture and contamination resistance than conventional designs. This dramatically extends bearing life, even through regular rain rides and bike washes.

Structurally, the cups feature optimised material and geometry for maximum strength at reduced weight, while a simplified spacer tube design uses fewer parts for quicker, more intuitive installation. Together, these changes achieve a 10% weight saving over the previous generation, bringing the net weight down to just 80g — one of the lightest threaded bottom brackets in its class. A Spacer Kit is included so riders can precisely adjust chainline position for their specific crankset brand and model.

Frame Compatibility

All road frames using the BSA English threaded bottom bracket standard (68mm shell width, 1.370" × 24 TPI). BSA is the most widely adopted threaded standard, found on the vast majority of traditional road frames and many modern carbon framesets.

⚠️ Before installation, confirm your frame's BB shell is 68mm BSA English threaded — not Italian threaded (70mm) or T47. If the shell is marked "1.370 × 24" or "BSA", it is compatible.
