The Dahon GB-2 (OBA793) is a gravel bike that folds: 27.5-inch (650B) wheels, drop bars, Shimano Sora 9-speed and disc brakes, with concealed LockJaw folding hinges in the frame. Dahon's official specification lists it at 12.6 kg, and it folds to fit a car boot or a corner at home, ideal for riders who want a drop-bar gravel bike but have no room for a full-size one.

What Problem Does It Solve?

Gravel and road bikes are long, and may not fit in your flat or car boot. Folding bikes store easily, but most use small 16- to 20-inch wheels and flat bars that are less suited to long rides or gravel. The GB-2 combines both: it keeps 27.5-inch wheels, drop bars and Shimano Sora gearing, then folds when you need to store or transport it. Dahon's own description notes that the folding design makes the bike easier to transport and stow, opening up more places to ride.

Who Is It For?

The GB-2 suits riders who use, or want to try, a drop-bar position, ride mainly on cycle tracks, country roads or gravel, and drive their bike to the start; or riders with limited space who want to fold the bike away when not in use.

It is not recommended for commuters who take the bike on the MTR or buses every day (the folded size exceeds the MTR luggage limit), or for riders who want the smallest possible fold and carry the bike up stairs often. These riders may prefer a 16- to 20-inch Dahon.

27.5-inch wheels and drop bars: a full-size ride

27.5-inch (650B) wheels with CST 27.5 x 1.4" tyres give stability close to a full-size bike. Drop bars offer several hand positions so you can change grip on long rides.

Concealed LockJaw folding hinges

Dahon's official specification lists a Dalloy aluminium frame with patented LockJaw hinges. The hinges are concealed, so the bike looks much like a regular diamond-frame bike. Jollymap's video also covers the diamond frame and the LockJaw hinges.

Shimano Sora 1x9 and mechanical disc brakes

The drivetrain pairs a 40T single chainring with a 9-speed cassette, controlled by a Shimano Sora rear derailleur and shift/brake levers. The single-ring setup has no front derailleur (Dahon official specification). Braking is by Dahon mechanical disc brakes with Shimano Sora levers.

D4D adjustable stem for different heights

Dahon's official specification lists a D4D stem on the GB-2, and Jollymap's video explains that this patented design lets you adjust the handlebar position to the rider's height.

Jollymap Recommends

The GB-2's point is simple: a drop-bar, big-wheel bike that folds. It suits riders who drive to the start and head out for long rides or gravel in the countryside. If you plan to fit 700C wheels or change the gearing, details such as tyre width and brake position matter, so chat with us or message our Facebook page before ordering with your height, intended use and the parts you want to change, and we will help you check first.

FAQ

What is the Dahon GB-2?

It is a gravel bike that folds. It has 27.5-inch (650B) wheels, drop bars, Shimano Sora 9-speed and disc brakes, and the frame folds on concealed LockJaw hinges. The model number is OBA793.

How much does the Dahon GB-2 weigh and how big is it folded?

It weighs 12.6 kg and folds to L 86.5 x W 36 x H 92 cm (source: Dahon official specification). Jollymap's video points out that this is about the same weight as a typical 20-inch folding bike.

Can the Dahon GB-2 take 700C wheels?

Jollymap's video mentions room to upgrade to a 700C wheelset, but Dahon's official specification does not list 700C compatibility. Tyre width, frame clearance and brake position all matter, so please contact us to confirm before ordering or converting.

What gears and brakes does the Dahon GB-2 use?

It is 1x9-speed: a 40T single chainring with a 9-speed cassette, controlled by Shimano Sora shift/brake levers and rear derailleur. Brakes are Dahon mechanical discs (source: Dahon official specification).

Can I adjust the handlebar height on the Dahon GB-2?

Yes. Dahon's official specification lists a D4D stem, and Jollymap's video shows how this patented design adjusts the bar position for riders of different heights. Dahon's global website lists a recommended rider height of 150–190 cm; if you are unsure, tell us your height before ordering and we will help you check.

Can I take the folded Dahon GB-2 on the MTR?

By the official folded size, it exceeds the MTR luggage limit. MTR rules say the length, width and height of luggage must not add up to more than 170 cm, while the folded GB-2 measures 86.5 x 36 x 92 cm (L x W x H), about 214.5 cm in total. On franchised buses, Regulation 14 of the Public Bus Services Regulations (Cap. 230A) only allows free carriage of items up to 5 kg and 0.1 cubic metres, which a folding bike usually exceeds. The GB-2 is better transported by car.
