The Merida Reacto 5000 (CF3 IV) is a carbon aero disc road bike with Shimano Ultegra 11-speed shifting and hydraulic disc brakes, a frame of about 1,150 g (size M) and room for 30 mm tyres. It belongs to the REACTO generation launched in 2021, for riders who want aero-bike speed without giving up comfort.

The most popular REACTO in our line-up. The 5000 features our proven CF3 carbon aero frame with complete cable integration and tyre clearance of up to 30 mm tyres. Wider tyres in combination with the remarkable S-FLEX carbon seat post provide impressive comfort for an aero bike, while the race-proven geometry keeps handling sharp yet predictable. The REACTO is the perfect bike for when you want to leave your mark at the races or just be the fastest out of all your riding buddies.

Newly launched in 2021, the latest version of the REACTO took the cycling press by storm. A long string of test wins, perfect scores and awards confirm our successful symbiosis of the race-proven DNA of the previous model with the latest trends and technologies. Cycling Weekly calls it 'without doubt one of the most complete bikes available on the market', Cyclingnews 'an utterly brilliant and faultless machine' and Cycling Plus were 'hugely impressed'. From serious racer via enthusiast to the ambitious road rider, the REACTO is a great bike for many people. Its outstanding aerodynamic performance, reduced weight, sharp handling and super quick acceleration makes it the perfect bike for criterium racers and sprinters. At the same time, the class-leading comfort gives it the ability to play out its aerodynamic advantage also on the cobblestones – or the idyllic but potholed littered lanes of your favourite training ride.

At a glance

Why an aero road bike?

On flat roads and in group rides, air resistance is what holds your speed back. REACTO is Merida's aero platform, described by Merida as fast, light, sharp-handling and quick to accelerate, ideal for criterium racers and sprinters. Wider tyres and the S-FLEX carbon seatpost also give it good comfort for an aero bike.

Who is it for?

Reacto 5000 uses Merida's race geometry, so it suits riders with road experience who want to go faster or race. For 12-speed electronic shifting and the newest frame, compare the Merida Reacto 5000 Gen 5 105 Di2; for the same CF3 IV frame with electronic shifting, see the Merida Reacto 6000 2024 105 Di2. If you mainly want an upright, relaxed position, race geometry may not suit you, so chat with us before ordering.

CF3 IV aero carbon frame

Frame and fork are REACTO CF3 IV carbon, with a size M frame of about 1,150 g and full internal cable routing. Merida's listed technologies include the X-TAPER head tube, NACA FASTBACK profile, NANO MATRIX CARBON and AWS anti-wrinkle system.

30 mm tyre clearance

Frame and fork take up to 700x30C tyres; the bike comes with Continental Ultra Sport III 700x25C. The rims are tubeless ready (tubeless tape and valves not included), so you can convert later.

DISC COOLER and WIRE PORT

DISC COOLER is Merida's cooling fin at the disc brake mounts, and WIRE PORT is the frame's cable entry design for a cleaner look.

Integrated rear light

The bike comes with the REACTO light seat post and battery; Merida says the integrated rear light improves road safety.

Jollymap advice

Aero race geometry is lower and longer than an endurance bike, so getting the size right matters. Before ordering, chat with us or message our Facebook page with your height, inseam and the size or stack/reach of your current bike, and we will help you compare.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which model year is this Merida Reacto 5000?

This is the Reacto 5000 with the REACTO CF3 IV frame, Shimano Ultegra 11-speed and an RS510 52-36T crank. Merida's archived page does not state a model year; third-party bike databases such as 99 Spokes list the same spec as the 2022 model. Merida's current Reacto 5000 is the Gen 5 CF3 V frame with 105 Di2, a different bike.

How much does the Merida Reacto 5000 weigh?

Merida quotes the CF3 IV frame at about 1,150 g in size M, but the official page for this version does not list a complete-bike weight. Actual weight depends on size and parts; contact us before ordering if you need a reference.

What is the maximum tyre size for Reacto 5000?

700x30C. Merida's official spec lists 700x30C as the maximum for both frame and fork; the bike comes with Continental Ultra Sport III 700x25C.

Reacto 5000 vs Reacto 6000: what is the difference?

The Reacto 6000 2024 on Jollymap also uses the CF3 IV frame with 700x30C clearance. The difference is shifting: Reacto 6000 2024 has 12-speed Shimano 105 Di2 electronic, while this Reacto 5000 has 11-speed Shimano Ultegra mechanical.

How is this Reacto 5000 different from the Gen 5 Reacto 5000?

Gen 5 uses the newer REACTO CF3 V frame (about 1,185 g, size M), raises tyre clearance to 700x32C and moves to 12-speed Shimano 105 Di2. This bike is the previous CF3 IV frame (about 1,150 g, size M) with 11-speed Ultegra mechanical shifting.

Which Reacto 5000 size should I choose?

Merida does not publish a height chart, so compare stack and reach with a bike that fits you: size S has 542 mm stack and 390 mm reach, size M 557 mm and 395 mm. Stock bar width (380–440 mm), stem length (90–120 mm) and crank length (165–175 mm) also change with size.

Can the wheels be converted to tubeless?

Yes. The MERIDA EXPERT CW rims are tubeless ready, but Merida notes that tubeless tape and valves are not included, so you need them plus tubeless tyres to convert.
