What Problem Does It Solve?
Once children move up to a 20-inch bike, their routes are not always flat. A single-speed bike has only one gear ratio; this 20-inch model has 8-speed gearing, so children can shift to an easier gear for climbs and a harder gear on the flat. The frame is also designed around a child's body, easy to get on and off, and easier to separate from in a fall.
Geometry built around children
The frame geometry follows a child's body proportions, so getting on and off is easy, and in a fall it is easier to separate from the bike, reducing the chance of injury.
8 speeds for different terrain
8-speed gearing lets children pick a suitable gear for the road: shift easier on climbs and harder on the flat. If your child mainly rides on flat cycle tracks and you prefer a simpler single-speed bike, compare the minivelo 20 inch kid bike.
Aluminium frame
Jollymap's spec lists an aluminium frame for this bike. Minivelo has no official spec website, and Jollymap does not yet have the brake, gear component models or weight for this 8-speed version; if you need these details, please contact us before ordering.
Candy-colour body in 5 colours
The candy-colour body comes in Black Blue, Blue Green, Blue Red, Pink Yellow and Brushed Silver. Please refer to the colour options on the product page for current availability.

Who Is It For?
Good fit: Children about 115–150 cm tall (Jollymap spec) who can already ride and want gears for routes with slopes.
Maybe not: For mainly flat riding with a single-speed bike, compare the minivelo 20 inch kid bike. If your child is close to 150 cm or growing fast, compare the Minivelo 24 inch 8 Speed kid bike. Under 115 cm, compare the Minivelo 16 inch Kid Bike.
For sizing, see Jollymap's kids bike fit chart below. The chart is for reference only; the right size also depends on the individual bike's design and the child's riding skill.

Jollymap's Advice
Besides height, check your child's inside leg length (inseam). According to Jollymap's article "6 Factors to Consider When Choosing a Kids' Bike", when the saddle is about 2 cm lower than the child's crotch height, the child can put both feet flat on the ground. If your child is between the 20-inch and 24-inch sizes, or you are not sure whether to choose single speed or 8-speed, please tell us your child's height, inseam and usual routes before ordering via Chat with us on our shop or the Jollymap Facebook page, and we will help you choose.

FAQ
What height of child does the Minivelo 20 inch 8 Speed Kid Bike suit?
Children about 115–150 cm tall (Jollymap spec). Choose a kids' bike by height and inseam rather than age alone; according to Jollymap's article, a saddle about 2 cm lower than the child's crotch height lets them put both feet flat on the ground. If unsure, contact us before ordering.
What is the difference between the Minivelo 20 inch 8-speed and single-speed?
The main difference is gearing. This Minivelo 20 inch 8 Speed Kid Bike has 8-speed gearing, while the minivelo 20 inch kid bike is single speed. Both have 20-inch wheels and the same 115–150 cm rider height in Jollymap's spec.
Does a child need gears on a 20-inch bike?
It depends on the route. If your child often rides up and down slopes, gears let them shift to an easier ratio for climbs, so this 8-speed model is worth considering; for mainly flat cycle tracks, the single-speed model is simpler to use. If unsure, tell us your child's usual routes before ordering.
How much does the Minivelo 20 inch 8 Speed Kid Bike weigh?
Jollymap does not yet have a verified weight for this 8-speed version. Minivelo has no official spec website; the first batch of the 20-inch single-speed model weighed about 7.2 kg in Jollymap's 2021 video, but the 8-speed version has extra gear components, so its weight may differ. If weight matters to you, please contact us before ordering.
What is Minivelo? Is it the same as an adult mini velo bike?
No. Minivelo is a kids' bike brand, and Jollymap's shop carries its 14-inch to 24-inch kids' bikes. In English, "mini velo" usually means an adult small-wheel bicycle with a normal-size frame and smaller wheels. If you are looking for an adult small-wheel bike, see models such as the Tern Roji Bike Crest 451.
What colours does the Minivelo 20 inch 8 Speed Kid Bike come in?
5 colours: Black Blue, Blue Green, Blue Red, Pink Yellow and Brushed Silver. Please refer to the colour options on the product page for current availability.
Where can I buy the Minivelo 20 inch 8 Speed Kid Bike in Hong Kong?
It is available from the Jollymap online shop and stores. Before choosing a size or colour, you can contact us via Chat with us on our shop or our Facebook page.
