After the pandemic, many people are focusing on their health and wanting to engage in more physical activities. Cycling is one of them, as it offers a lower intensity compared to running and puts less pressure on the knees. It is suitable for individuals with higher body weight or weaker knees. However, cycling in Hong Kong is not always easy. It is affected by the weather, and not everyone has easy access to cycling paths. Some people are also concerned about riding on the roads. That's why indoor bike machines have become popular. Don't think that cycling indoors facing four walls would be boring. Recently, there are interactive smart bike machines available on the market. In this three-part series, we will introduce some of the most famous smart indoor bike machines. In the first episode, we will introduce the widely acclaimed Tacx Neo Bike Plus. Many professional cyclists and national teams choose Tacx for their bike training machines.
Many people often wonder how much difference there is when riding bikes with large and small wheels. Compact folding bikes save space but require more effort to pedal and are not as easily capable of achieving high speeds. On the other hand, road bikes with larger wheels are often associated with greater momentum and the ability to cover longer distances. But how much of a difference is there in reality? Jollymap will conduct a simple test to provide an answer. We will perform a test where the bike is pushed down a slope without pedaling, allowing it to roll naturally, and observe the differences in rolling distances among bikes with different wheel sizes. Although this test is not highly scientific, as wheel sizes are not the only factor, each bike has its own design, specifications, and maintenance. Additionally, the road surface may not be perfectly even, with some slight variations in elevation. Nevertheless, this test will provide an overall understanding of the differences in inertia between different wheel sizes. And most importantly... it's all for fun, staying true to the spirit of "taking trivial matters seriously" in this case.
