Dahon Hong Kong lists it at about 10.44 kg, with a maximum load of about 100 kg and a folded size of 72 x 39 x 63 cm (L x W x H), in Grey, Black and Green.
Key facts
- Category: 16-inch (349) folding bike, 9-speed, disc brakes

- Standout features: smoother-looking flat-welded frame; 349 wheels; Deltec frame cable
- Key numbers: about 10.44 kg; maximum load about 100 kg; folded 72 x 39 x 63 cm (L x W x H); kickstand not included
- Best for: riders who want a K3 Plus with 349 wheels from the factory and like the cleaner look of a flat-welded frame. If light weight matters most, the 305 version (9.8 kg) is lighter
What is the "Flat Welding Version"?
Dahon Hong Kong lists the K3 Plus 349 on two product pages, the "349 Version" and the "Flat Welding Version", with identical specifications (349 wheels, 9-speed disc brakes, about 10.44 kg, 72 x 39 x 63 cm, about 100 kg load). According to Jollymap's article 2026 Ultimate DAHON Folding Bike Collection, the flat-welded frame has a smoother, more streamlined look. Dahon does not list any difference in weight or strength between the two.
What problem does it solve?
The 14-inch, 3-speed K3 has few gears for Hong Kong's hills. The K3 Plus puts 9 speeds and disc brakes on a 16-inch frame, and the 349 version comes with larger 349 wheels from the factory. Jollymap's article 257 notes that many owners upgrade to 349 wheels, and article 204 points out that the first-generation K3 Plus fork was too tight, so fitting 349 wheels meant replacing the fork too. Buying the 349 version saves that work.
Who is it for?
The K3 Plus 349 Flat Welding Version suits riders up to about 100 kg who commute or ride routes with hills and want 9-speed disc brakes and 349 wheels on a 16-inch folder. Two things to note: first, at about 10.44 kg it is heavier than the 9.8 kg K3 Plus 305; second, the official folded dimensions add up to about 174 cm, slightly over the MTR's 170 cm luggage limit. Dahon has not published a rider height range for the 349 versions.
349 wheels
349 and 305 are ISO rim diameters in millimetres. Both are called 16 inch, but the 349 wheel is larger. Dahon Hong Kong lists 349 wheels for this model.
Deltec frame cable
Dahon Hong Kong lists this model as a Deltec cable ("馬甲綫") version. The Deltec cable is Dahon's tension cable fitted under the frame, linking the head tube and down tube to form a triangle; Dahon says it increases frame rigidity by about 15% and reduces stress on the folding joint. Jollymap's article 257 notes that on Deltec-equipped K3 Plus bikes the gear and brake cables run along the Deltec cable to the rear inside a protective sleeve, for a tidier look.

Telescopic in-folding handlepost
Dahon describes this model as the "telescopic in-folding handlepost" version. Jollymap's article 204 on the second-generation K3 Plus notes that the handlepost height is adjustable, the front disc caliper moved from the left to the right side, and the cable routing moved to the right to suit the new folding direction.

9-speed disc brakes and folding pedals
Dahon's official spec is 9-speed with disc brakes. According to the family comparison in Jollymap's article 295, the 349 Flat Welding Version comes with folding pedals, while the 305 version has non-folding aluminium pedals.

Both Dahon Hong Kong 349 pages list 349 wheels, 9-speed disc brakes, about 10.44 kg, 72 x 39 x 63 cm and about 100 kg load; the Flat Welding Version uses a flat-welded frame, which Jollymap's article 314 says looks smoother. The colours also differ: this version comes in Grey, Black and Green.
What is the maximum load of the Dahon K3 Plus 349 Flat Welding Version?
About 100 kg, as listed on Dahon Hong Kong's Flat Welding Version page. The 305 version is also 100 kg, while the 14-inch K3 is 75 kg.
How much does the Dahon K3 Plus 349 Flat Welding Version weigh?
About 10.44 kg, according to Dahon Hong Kong's product description, around 0.6 kg more than the 9.8 kg K3 Plus 305.
What is the difference between the K3 Plus 305 and 349?
Mainly the wheel size. Both use the KAA693 frame and 9-speed disc brakes, but the 349 version has larger 349 wheels (ISO rim diameter 349 mm versus 305 mm). Dahon lists the 349 version at about 10.44 kg and the K3 Plus 305 at 9.8 kg.
What is the difference between the K3 Plus and the Mini 349?
The Mini 349 is Dahon's 40th anniversary special edition, also with 349 wheels, with graffiti graphics and a 40th anniversary logo on the frame and rear triangle (Jollymap article 204). According to the family comparison in Jollymap's article 295, the Mini 349 has no Deltec cable, while the K3 Plus 349 Flat Welding Version does.
What is the difference between the Dahon K3 and the K3 Plus?
The Dahon K3 uses 14-inch wheels and 3 speeds, weighs 7.9 kg without pedals and takes up to 75 kg; the K3 Plus 349 Flat Welding Version uses 16-inch 349 wheels and 9-speed disc brakes, weighs about 10.44 kg and takes about 100 kg. The K3 is lighter and smaller; the K3 Plus is better for hills and longer rides.

Can I take the K3 Plus 349 Flat Welding Version on the MTR?

MTR rules say the length, width and height of luggage must not add up to more than 170 cm, and this bike folds to 72 x 39 x 63 cm, about 174 cm in total. On franchised buses, Regulation 14 of the Public Bus Services Regulations (Cap. 230A) only allows free carriage of items up to 5 kg and 0.1 cubic metres, which a folding bike usually exceeds; minibuses also make no guarantee.
