The Dahon 40th Anniversary Speed P8 (KBC083) is a 20-inch, 8-speed CR-MOLY steel folding bike: the classic Dahon Speed P8 in a 40th anniversary paint scheme. Dahon Hong Kong lists it at 12.8 kg with a 105 kg maximum load, a recommended rider height of 150-180 cm and a folded size of 81 x 31 x 66 cm (L x W x H), so it suits riders who want the steadier feel of 20-inch wheels and like a special finish.
Key Facts
- Category: 20-inch folding bike, 8-speed, V-brakes
- Brand: Dahon (founded in the USA in 1982, now producing mainly in Shenzhen). Dahon Hong Kong calls the standard model "ARCHER (SPEED P8)"; this one is officially the "DAHON 40th Anniversary Version SPEED P8 (KBC083)"
- Key feature: the same KBC083 model and CR-MOLY frame as the standard Speed P8, with 40th anniversary graphics and colours
- Key figures: 12.8 kg, 105 kg maximum load, rider height 150-180 cm, folded 81 x 31 x 66 cm (L x W x H)
- Colours: Black, Grey Blue, Red
- Best for: riders with longer commutes or leisure rides who want 20-inch wheels and accept a heavier bike than 14- or 16-inch folders
What Problem Does It Solve?
14- and 16-inch folders are easy to carry, but on Hong Kong's uneven streets and over longer distances they can feel twitchy and slow. The Speed P8's 20-inch wheels and 8 speeds ride more like a regular bike. The 40th Anniversary version keeps the same KBC083 frame and specification and differs only in its finish, giving fans of this classic 20-inch folder another look to choose from.
Who Is It For?
It suits riders 150-180 cm tall and up to 105 kg who commute longer distances or ride cycle tracks at the weekend. If you fold and carry the bike many times a day or often carry it up stairs, 12.8 kg is noticeably more effort than a lightweight 14- or 16-inch folder.
20-inch wheels for a steadier ride
20-inch wheels roll over potholes, drain covers and rough surfaces more smoothly than 14- or 16-inch wheels and hold speed more easily on longer rides.
CR-MOLY steel frame
Dahon Hong Kong lists the frame as CR-MOLY. Chromoly steel is known for durability, at the cost of a little more weight than a comparable aluminium frame.
8 speeds with V-brakes, simple to own
Eight gears cover everyday commuting on flats and moderate hills. Jollymap's 2026 Dahon buying guide groups the 40th Anniversary and regular Speed P8 as the classic 8-speed V-brake version, simple and easy to maintain, and Dahon's official photos of the anniversary bike show V-brakes. If you want disc brakes, Dahon sells a separate Speed P8 disc brake version.
40th anniversary graphics
Dahon Hong Kong's official photos show "ARCHER P8" lettering, multi-coloured stripes and a 40th anniversary emblem on the frame. It comes in Black, Grey Blue and Red.

Jollymap's Advice
If ride comfort and speed on your commute matter more than carrying the bike many times a day, the Speed P8's 20-inch wheels and steel frame are a worthwhile trade-off. The 40th Anniversary and standard versions share the same specification, so choose the finish and colour you like. If you often take a folding bike on the MTR, note that its folded size exceeds the MTR luggage limit (see the FAQ below). Not sure it suits your height, route or storage space? Chat with us or message our Facebook page before ordering, with your height and usual route.

FAQ
How much does the Dahon 40th Anniversary Speed P8 weigh?
12.8 kg, according to Dahon Hong Kong; the standard Speed P8 is listed at 12.7 kg. Actual weight can vary slightly between batches and measuring tools.
What is the difference between the 40th Anniversary and standard Speed P8?
Mainly the finish and colours. According to Dahon Hong Kong, both are the KBC083 with 20-inch wheels, 8 speeds, a CR-MOLY frame, a 105 kg maximum load and a 150-180 cm rider height. The anniversary bike adds commemorative graphics and stripes, comes in Black, Grey Blue and Red, and is listed at 12.8 kg. For the standard version, see the Dahon Speed P8 20inch 8 speed Folding Bike KBC083.
Is the 40th Anniversary Speed P8 a limited edition?
Dahon Hong Kong has not published a production limit for this version, so we do not describe it as limited. For its 40th anniversary Dahon also released the Anniversary 40 (ODB015), a carbon folding bike limited to 249 units, which is a different bike from this Speed P8.
Are the Archer P8 and Speed P8 the same bike?
Yes. Dahon Hong Kong names the standard KBC083 "DAHON ARCHER (SPEED P8)", and the anniversary bike's frame decal reads "ARCHER P8", so both names refer to this 20-inch 8-speed KBC083 folder.
What is the difference between the Dahon P8 and D8?
Both are 20-inch 8-speed folders, but the frame material and brakes differ. The Speed P8 (KBC083) has a CR-MOLY steel frame with V-brakes; the Launch D8 (KBA083) has an aluminium frame with disc brakes and is listed by Dahon Hong Kong at 12.1 kg, folding to 82 x 38 x 64 cm.
Can I take the Dahon 40th Anniversary Speed P8 on the MTR?
Not when simply folded. MTR luggage must not exceed 170 cm in total length, width and height, with no side over 130 cm, and this bike's official folded size adds up to about 178 cm. According to the Transport Department, a folding bike that does not comply may be taken in with the front wheel removed. Franchised buses are limited by section 14 of the Public Bus Services Regulations (Cap. 230A): free luggage is capped at 5 kg and 0.1 cubic metres, which a folding bike usually exceeds.
What rider height is the Dahon P8 for?
Dahon Hong Kong recommends a rider height of 150-180 cm and a maximum load of 105 kg. If you are near either limit, please contact us before ordering.
