Java Neo 14" 3-Speed Lightweight Folding Bike | The Ultimate Space-Saver for Teens, Ladies & City Commuters
The Java Neo 14" folds to the smallest footprint in the Java NEO range, weighing about 9.4 kg with pedals — built for anyone who doesn't have room to store a full-size bike or wants a bike they can actually lift with one hand. Living in a cozy apartment shouldn't stop you from enjoying the freedom of cycling. If storage space is a major concern, or if you're simply tired of lugging around a heavy, bulky bicycle, the Java Neo 14" 3-Speed Folding Bike is exactly what you've been looking for.
Designed with urban living in mind, this ultra-compact folding bike is a great option for apartment dwellers, teenagers, and female riders. It combines portability, light weight, and reliable performance into one sleek package.
🌟 Why This Bike is Perfect for You:
- 🏠 The Ultimate Space-Saver: Featuring compact 14-inch wheels, the Java Neo folds down to about 59cm long and 55cm tall (Jollymap's own measurement). Slide it under a desk, tuck it into a small closet, or fit it into the trunk of a taxi or car. Say goodbye to cluttered hallways!
- 🪶 Lightweight & Portable: Constructed with an Aluminum Alloy frame, fork, and components, this bike weighs about 9.4 kg with pedals (9.37 kg measured by Jollymap). It's easy to lift and carry, making it a good choice for ladies and teenagers. Navigating stairs or taking it onto public transit (like the MTR) is straightforward.
- ⚙️ Smooth & Reliable Gearing: Equipped with a dependable Shimano shifter and rear derailleur, the 3-speed setup (11T–13T–17T cassette) is tuned for city riding. Paired with a 50T crankset (145mm crank), it handles flat roads and light urban inclines with ease.
- 🛑 Reliable Stopping Power: Upgraded with hydraulic disc brakes (a domestic Chinese brand set), giving lighter lever feel and more responsive braking than traditional cable brakes.
Why the Java NEO 14" stands out
According to Jollymap's own testing, the Java NEO 14" has a handlebar height of about 95cm, a wheelbase of about 94cm (versus about 86cm on the comparable Dahon K3), a BB height of about 24cm, and a BB-to-rear-wheel distance of about 25cm. The longer wheelbase helps stability, while the lower BB position helps keep the centre of gravity down. The stock saddle is noticeably softer than on earlier Java models, which suits relaxed riding.

Jollymap's Advice
The Java NEO 14" only comes in one frame size. Based on Jollymap's own testing, the stock seatpost is long enough for riders roughly 155–175cm tall; if you're taller than about 175cm, a longer seatpost is recommended. If you're unsure whether the fit suits your height, please contact us before ordering with your height and inseam length. If you'd like electronic shifting on the same 14" platform with a carbon fork included, we also carry the Java NEO 14" Electric Shift 5-Speed Folding Bike.
FAQ
What's the difference between the Java NEO 14" and 16", and which one should I get?
The 14" is built for compact storage, ladies and teenagers, weighing about 9.4 kg and folding to the smallest footprint in the range, but with a smaller wheel and less rolling momentum. The 16" 349 version weighs about 10.2 kg with a wider 9-speed gear range, better suited to slightly longer rides or gentle climbs. If you mainly need a light bike for short trips, the 14" is more than enough.
Is 3-speed enough? Can it handle inclines?
It's fine for flat roads and gentle inclines (footbridge ramps, for example), but the Java NEO 14" is designed for light, everyday portability rather than steep hills or countryside terrain. If your daily route has noticeable hills, consider a 9-speed or higher model instead.
How much does it actually weigh, and how big is it folded?
About 9.4 kg with pedals (9.37 kg measured by Jollymap), folding to about 59cm long and 55cm tall — small enough to fit in most car boots and home storage spaces.
Who is this 14" folding bike best suited for?
It's particularly well suited to space-limited homes, ladies and teenagers. The all-aluminium build keeps weight down, so lighter riders can lift it with one hand and carry it up stairs or onto the MTR or bus with less effort.
Can I take it onto the bus or MTR when folded?
MTR requires that the combined length, width and height of hand-carried items does not exceed 170cm, with no single side over 130cm; the Java NEO 14" meets this when folded. For buses, under the Public Bus Services Regulations (Cap. 230A) Section 14, the free baggage allowance is capped at 5kg and 0.1 cubic metres, which the whole bike typically exceeds — whether it's allowed on board depends on the bus company and driver.
Is the Java NEO 14" suitable for a first-time folding bike rider?
Yes. The 3-speed drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes are simple and intuitive to operate, making it a good first folding bike.
Is there an electronic shifting option on this frame?
Yes — we also carry the Java NEO 14" Electric Shift 5-Speed Folding Bike, built on the same 14" platform with a carbon fibre fork and electronic shifting for riders who want to keep the compact folded size.
