Why You'll Love the Java NEO Chrome Edition
- Striking Limited Edition Finish: The chrome colourway offers a premium, mirror-like look that stands out on city streets.
- Stability & Comfort: The carbon fibre fork reduces front-end weight and absorbs road vibration. In Jollymap's review of the NEO range, the carbon fork filters out fine vibration from paving bricks and speed bumps, so your hands tire less on rides longer than an hour.
- Lightweight & Portable: A durable, lightweight aluminium alloy frame and 16" 349 wheels keep the folded size small, so folding, lifting and carrying are easier.
- Electronic Shifting: Wheeltop 12-speed electronic shifting (11-40T) – press a button and a motor completes the shift, with no gear cable to stretch and cause skipping; the 40T largest cog gives you an easier gear for climbs.
- Reliable Braking: Hydraulic disc brakes feel light and linear, with steady, responsive stopping power in all weather.
Who is it for?
- Riders who want something different: chrome is a limited colourway.
- Commuters who want electronic shifting: push-button shifts, closely spaced 12-speed gearing and a 40T cog for Hong Kong's hills.
- Riders who need a small folded size: for regular public transport trips or limited storage at home.
- Not ideal for: riders who need a bike right away – this is a preorder item, so please contact us if you have questions about the preorder; taller riders (e.g. over 180 cm) or those who often ride long distances, for whom Jollymap's review suggests a 20" model.
Chrome 16" vs other Java NEO models
- vs the Java NEO 12s 16 inch 349 Electric Shift 12 Speed Folding Bike: both have an aluminium alloy frame, carbon fibre fork, 16" 349 wheels, Wheeltop 12-speed electronic shifting (11–40T), a 50T hollow 165 mm crankset and hydraulic disc brakes. The chrome finish is a limited colourway sold by preorder; for other colours such as Titanium or Matt Orange, see the standard 12s.
- vs the Java NEO 9S 16 inch 349 9 Speeds Folding Bike (Carbon Fork version): also a 16" aluminium frame with a carbon fork, but with 9-speed mechanical shifting (L-TWOO shifter, Shimano rear derailleur, 11–32T). If you don't need electronic shifting and want simple maintenance, consider the 9-speed carbon fork version.
- vs the (Preorder) Java Neo 20 inch Folding Bike - Chrome (Limited Edition): the same chrome limited finish, with 406 wheels and 170 mm cranks. Jollymap measured the 20" handlebar at about 100 cm from the ground versus about 92 cm on the 16"; the 16" folds smaller and handles more nimbly, while the 20" suits taller riders and long-distance cruising.

Jollymap's Advice
Before folding a NEO, shift into the lowest gear (the largest cog) to reduce the chance of the chain dropping; once folded, push the bike forwards rather than pulling it backwards, so the cranks don't turn and jam a pedal against the wheel or frame. For easier parking, the shop carries the Mr TiParts Aluminum Kickstand for Java Neo 16 inch and the Mr TiParts Carbon Kickstand for Java Neo 16inch. This model comes in one frame size; if you're unsure whether it suits your height, or want to check accessory compatibility, please contact us before ordering (with your height and inseam), or message the Jollymap Facebook page.

FAQ
How is the Chrome Limited Edition different from the regular Java NEO 12s 16" electric shift?
Mainly the colour. Chrome is a limited finish sold by preorder; the frame material, carbon fibre fork, 349 wheels, Wheeltop 12-speed electronic shifting (11–40T), 50T 165 mm crankset and hydraulic disc brakes are the same as the Java NEO 12s 16 inch 349 Electric Shift 12 Speed Folding Bike. The handlebar, headset stem and seatpost material are subject to the shipped spec – please contact us before ordering.
Is there a 9-speed Chrome Limited Edition?
This page currently offers the 12-speed electronic shifting version only. If you want a 16" carbon fork bike with 9-speed mechanical shifting, consider the Java NEO 9S 16 inch 349 9 Speeds Folding Bike (Carbon Fork version) (L-TWOO shifter, Shimano rear derailleur, 11–32T).
How much does the Java NEO 16" Chrome weigh?
The complete weight of the Chrome Limited Edition depends on the shipped spec – please contact us before ordering. For reference, the Java NEO 12s 16" electric shift, with the same frame material, drivetrain and brakes, is about 10 kg, and Jollymap's article puts it at about 9.9 kg.
16" or 20" Chrome: which suits me?
Choose the 16" if you often fold the bike for the MTR or have limited storage; choose the 20" if you're taller (e.g. over 180 cm) or often ride long distances. Jollymap measured the 20" handlebar at about 100 cm from the ground versus about 92 cm on the 16", and the cranks go from 165 mm to 170 mm. See the (Preorder) Java Neo 20 inch Folding Bike - Chrome (Limited Edition).
How does it compare with the full-carbon Java NEO J Air EX12 16"?
The difference is frame material and weight. The Java NEO J Air Carbon EX12 16 inch Folding Bike has a carbon frame, fork, handlebar, headset stem and seatpost, and Jollymap measured about 8.35 kg with pedals; this Chrome edition has an aluminium alloy frame with a carbon fork. Both use Wheeltop 12-speed electronic shifting, an 11–40T cassette and a 50T 165 mm crankset.
How small does it fold? Can I take it on the MTR or a bus?
Based on the official folded size of the same range, it should be within the MTR luggage limit (Java does not state whether pedals are included). Java's published folded size for the aluminium 16" NEO is 69 × 30.5 × 58 cm, about 157.5 cm in total, within the MTR limit of 170 cm for length, width and height combined with no side over 130 cm. For franchised buses, section 14 of the Public Bus Services Regulations (Cap. 230A) only allows free carriage of items up to 5 kg and 0.1 m³, which a complete bike exceeds, so whether you can board depends on the bus company and the driver; there is no guarantee on minibuses either.
Is a carbon fibre fork durable?
Under normal use (no crashes or impacts), a carbon fork is as durable as a metal one and absorbs vibration better. When tightening bolts, don't exceed the manufacturer's torque limit; if you suspect the fork has taken a knock, check it for cracks before riding.
Does electronic shifting need cable adjustment?
No. With Wheeltop electronic shifting, a motor completes each shift and there is no gear cable, so there's no skipping from a stretched cable. After riding in the rain, it's still a good idea to wipe the chain and cassette dry and re-lube.
